Fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed by fats and are the A, D, E, and K vitamins. They are passively absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and conveyed by lipoproteins called chylomicrons. They are generally stored in the liver, adipose tissue, and muscle, and eliminated via faeces. The other group are the hydrosoluble ones (vitamins B and C) which are soluble in water.
